Eames La Chaise

The Eames La Chaise, 1948 ,Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen for MoMA, New York’s Low Cost Furniture La Chaise is an important chairs in the development of twentieth-century furniture design, many of which are now in the Museum’s design collection. Created in 1948 as an entry for the "Low Cost Furniture Design" competition held by MoMA, the chaise’s design was noted for its elegance. Recreated in fiberglass, metal, and wood.

Charles and Ray Eames designed Eames La Chaise in 1948 for a Museum of Modern Art competition. But it is only since 1991 that the chair has been manufacturing small quantities of the design in serial production. La Chaise is suitable for both sitting and lying on. Its organic shape was inspired by “floating�figure.
