Architect Alvar Aalto also had a distinguished career as a lamp designer. Aalto's lamps often arose from individual construction project. Many models were further adapted and developed for serial production. Artek's production includes several original designs dating from 1937 to 1959. From pendant and ceiling fixtures to floor and table lamps, his lighting was minimal yet elegant while offering a timeless quality. Floor lamp A805 features a hand-riveted, louvered steel shade painted white. The shade of this lamp is made of thin painted metal strips that prevent glare by diffusing light evenly. The asymmetrical shape is reminiscent of an angel's wing. Offered with either a polished brass, nickel plated brass or white painted brass upper part. Base and stand are covered with either black or white leather with matching 98" L plastic cord.
